Hello! DD is almost 7 weeks and sleeps in a RnP in our room. She has pretty consistently been sleeping for 5-6 hours at night with a feeding before bed and then will wake between 5-6am to nurse again. She will nap without problems during the day in a PnP at daycare. I'm wondering if I should start to transition her to sleeping in her crib at night. My only drawback is that I like having her so close so I can nurse her in bed. I've also researched that it reduces the risk of SIDS to have them near mom until they hit 4 months.
So mommies how have you made the switch and how old were they? How did you handle nursing? Did you start off by swaddling? TIA!
Re: Transitioning to crib
Honestly, there is research for co-sleeping reducing risk of SIDS, and research showing it increases risk of SIDS, so I have always gone with I am most comfortable with.
I EBF, and LO has slept in her crib since she turned 3 months. It just happened on one try, and she does pretty well. She doesn't STTN yet, she gets up at about 12-2 time range for a feeding, and that is when she comes to bed with me until 7. So I guess we still partially co-sleep.But I don't mind. I am WAY too lazy to get up, feed her and rock her back to sleep to put back in her crib when I can just pop my boob out in bed and go back to sleep. But I imagine she would do just fine going back to her crib for the night if I wasn't so lazy haha.
Also, I did start of swaddling in her crib, and then by 4 months we did a cold turkey switch to no swaddle.
This all the way
