Best SBR position to lay with short cervix

What is the best way to lay in bed when on SBR? I have a shortened cervix and my MFM doctor originally told me to lay on my side with bottom leg straight out, top leg slightly bent and rotate hips slightly towards the mattress so my belly rests on the bed.

Does anyone think turning like this is too much pressure applied to my cervix? Or is this position not putting any pressure on it?

  • I wasn't given specifics about what position to lie in.  It's not a good idea to always be in the same position - your body needs some variety.  Good luck!

  • I rest basically like your doc said, naturally. I have a pillow under my hips. Sometimes I rotate slightly to my back, but if I get too far, I get light headed and nauseous. So that's neat, lol. I also get nervous they aren't getting as much blood flow. My doc told me to lay on my back or left, not my right. But my back is out now because these babies are so big, so left it is 24/7. 24. 7. On. My. Left. Side.

  • A friend on BR for pre e had to lay on her left side the entire time because its extra important for blood flow in that case I guess...?

Glad he told you to rest your belly on the bed, I meant to ask doc if I was squishing them by resting it there. ::
