I have an u/s scheduled in this trimester to check if fluid levels have resolved in my sons kidneys. Since he is much bigger than earlier u/s do you know if you still need to drink 24-36 oz water before hand?
I was told to just stay hydrated. The more liquids you take in, the better the amniotic fluid. The tech will more than likely tell you to empty your bladder before the scan.
My tech said it was not necessary to fill up my bladder before the u/s...even though the instructions say so. I am very petite and the recommended water intake was WAY too much for me. I just make sure I'm drinking a fair amount of water before the u/s (and I drink a lot of water anyway, so I don't approach it much differently).
I've had several ultrasounds done in my second and third trimesters, and was never given directions to drink a specific amount of water ahead of time. In fact, they also let me empty my bladder before starting.
I'd call my doctor and ask if I were you. Everyone's doctor is different and you don't want to go by what someone on here says if it's not what your doctors wants you to do. Hope your sons kidneys look better:)
