Hi ladies!! Sorry I haven't posted in forever!
At my sons 12 month appt they gave us paperwork to get blood work done to check and see if he is anemic. Well I completely forgot so we got the same paper again at 15 months. I assumed it would be a heel/finger stick, but the doctor said it was a venipuncture. I was surprised but didn't think much of it. Well today we went to get it done and it was a nightmare. I had to watch my baby be held done by three people and they had to stick him 3 times to finally get it. Now I feel so upset with his doctor, I don't understand why he couldn't just order a finger/heel stick-when I know thats how they check when I donate blood. So I'm wondering is this how all of your babies had to be checked?
I'm probably being irrational after watching him go through it today- he was rather upset afterwards but its now completely forgotten.
Re: anemia bloodwork
We had a finger prick at Luke's 15 month. I can't imagine trying to get him to sit still enough to get blood from the arm!
I understand its hard to see your baby in pain upset but they've forgotten it much quicker than you.
