Trouble TTC

BDing while sick?

So I have been sick with the worst head cold for the past week.  It has not been pretty -- snotty, coughing, sneezing, etc.  I haven't wanted to waste this cycle so I have felt like Monica from friends when she was trying to get Chandler to have sex with her when she was sick.

How do you deal with being sick and not wanting to waste a cycle?  Power through?

  • I always powered through, never wanted to waste a cycle.  It wasn't the most fun, but I sucked it up :). Hope you feel better soon!

  • LOL!!!! DH and I were talking about this the other day! He got home from work SUPER late the other day (O-1); I mean, I'm talking about 130 AM or so (he works the 3PM-1130PM shift as a chief engineer for a hotel). I woke up looking a hot-mess, and 'seduced' him. We still BDed. I don't even remember how. The next morning I woke up sad that we hadn't and he laughed at the fact that I didn't remember. It's totally engrained in us at this point, I suppose! ;)

  • I power through best I can. Take one for the team lol. Although my DH and I had a 4day break recently, poor guy had sinusitis pretty bad, he could barely breathe, the doc had to give him an inhaler. I'd didn't have the heart to cause him an asthmaticlike attack. If we don't get a BFP this cycle, I'm gonna need him around for the next cycle! Lol
I hope you feel better soon! Good luck this cycle!
Me: 33 - PCOS & Hypothyroidism DH: 35 - SA is good Married since 2010 (together since 2006) TTC since June 2009 (we knew we would have issues and wanted family right away after we got married). No pregnancies yet. May 2013 - started first round of Chlomid & ovidrel cycle.

Oh yikes, I've been there! Like many of the ladies said, I've been so desperate not to waste valuable BD time that I'd probably need to be hospitalized before I'd take a break! Poor DH has been deathly ill in the past and I've had to motivate him to "play through the pain" lol. He's not as receptive to that. He has this crazy idea that sex should always be fun and enjoyable or something. :D
30 yrs, healthy & TTC since April 2010
    DH 32yrs & healthy
    *unexplained infertility*

Regularly access alternative medicine to supplement a lack of resources in our geographical area.
    • Three rounds of clomid (50mg days 3-7) were useless.
    • IUI#1 w/clomid & HCG in May 2013, BFN.
    • IUI#2 w/clomid & HCG on July 23rd. BFN.
    • IUI #3 in August cancelled last minute, due to lab error.
    • IVF#1 - Started Gonal F stims October 13 2013 for IUI. Over-responded with too many follicles, so converted to IVF. Retrieval October 29th - got 5 eggs, 4 fertilized. Had 2 perfect little embryos transferred on day 3 (Nov. 1). The remaining 2 didn't survive to freeze. Got our BFN on November 13th 2013.
    • IVF#2 - Started stims August 21st. Triggered with Suprefact, started on dostinex due to risk of OHSS. Retrieval September 5th - got 27 eggs! 21 embryos on day 3. Embryos deteriorated quickly. ESet 5day blast on Sept 10. No embryos high enough quality to freeze. BFN came Sept. 22.

Reserved a semi-known proven donor in August .

Waiting for consult/screening and protocols with estimated fresh cycle timing in October

Ha ha.  I am all about pushing through but it is harder to convince DH to get in a sexy mood when I'm all snotty and gross.  We made the best of it though.  :)
