I took DS for his 1 year check up Wednesday and he got 3 shots. Friday we were back, he was sent home with a 102 fever and diagnosed w/ an ear infection. We have him anitbiotics and motrin, but the fever kept up all weekend. I stayed home yesterday, but the fever was gone and he seemed pretty good. Today he's been pretty cranky all day and I noticed a rash on his belly tonight.
1) would daycare send him home for a rash?
2) any clue what's going on with him?
Re: daycare and rashes... help diagnose my son
It depends on your day care's policy, but it is possible they could send him home for a rash. My DS got a head to toe rash from the chicken pox vaccine at 12 mths and he did get sent home from day care. We knew it was from the shot (he is a sensitive boy and reacts to everything, and his pedi told us to expect the rash) but we still had to go pick him up and take him back to the pedi to be sure. She wrote him a doctor's note so we could take him back, because it's not contagious.
The other possibility is roseola, which is a super common viral rash preceded by fever. DS had this as well....we have been to the pedi a lot lately!
