c-section

FTM and BTDT what are the C-section "rules" you were given?

I just read one story where she was asked not to climb stairs for two weeks. Um... is that true!? I know it will be difficult to do stairs, but are they completely out for a period of time? Are their other rules?

I am totally prepared for a natural birth... but with two breech babies I'll be having a section and now I feel like I'm not "prepared" for one. Help?

Re: c-section

  • I climbed our stairs from day one once I went home. I tried not to take unnecessary trips up & down, but since all of our bedrooms were upstairs, it was kind of required. The only real "rule" I followed was to not drive while still on narcotic pain killers :) Otherwise, I just used common sense it took it easy, but nothing too extreme. This time I know I won't be able to lift DD for awhile as well.

  • I was told not to do stairs, although I don't know for how long. Not that I really listened. Last time I did not go up and down as much, but I now live in a three story house and it is impossible to limit stair-climbing. It is more difficult to do, but that's what the percocet and/or ibuprofen are for.

  • As far as rules go, I think I was just told no heavy lifting, no driving while on pain meds, no baths or sex until cleared at 6 week checkup. I wasn't told anything about stairs, but I wouldn't be able to listen to that one anyways because I live in a split foyer house... so no chance of avoiding stairs for me.

  • I was told I could do limited stairs down in the morning, up at lunch time and back down, and up at bed time. I was told I couldn't lift anything heavier than my babies, no baths/pools/hot tubs for 6 weeks, no driving for two weeks or until I could slam on my breaks without a delayed reaction and was off pain meds. Also, no sex for six weeks. That's all I can think of right now.

  • I climbe my stairs the day I got
Home from the hospital three days there and was surprised at how easy it was. The main thing I did follow was no driving for two weeks and no bathes for three.

He's my fairytale, a dream when I'm not sleeping.

I got all these and also got to minimize climbing stairs.  I mean, they obviously know that it's unavoidable in some cases but it does strain the abs so it's better if you don't plan to haul up and down the stairs a million times a day :)
