Every baby is different so what may work for one baby might not work for another. I would try a few different kinds to see which ones you like but remember what works on your bff's child might not work for your future child.
I think before you order you need to consider how you are going to use them your self. I loved the idea of AIO and would love a whole giant stash of them but with two on the way I am sticking with prefolds and covers. My point being I guess is dont set your self up to fall in love with something thats not right for you.
If it were me, I'd experiment with the cheapest option (=prefolds & covers) and see if I can make that work because I care a lot about the savings.
We did a weekend experiment with the Econobum trial pack and it worked well for us, but not for daycare, so we keep it in the rotation as back up on laundry day.
I know that what works on one may not work on another, but I experimented on my oldest, because I wanted to use cloth on the next baby. I got BG 4.0, loved them, and they ended up working on both of my kids. I also bought some BG Freetime, and while they are fine on DD, they don't fit DS very well. I am waiting to see how they fit later, but if they never do, I will replace them with more 4.0s. I agree with PP, get something with great resale value.
