DD turned 9 months on Saturday and had her well visit today. She is 17lb, 4oz (25th percentile) and 28.6 inches long (90th percentile). Her head is in the 50th percentile. Her pedi wasn't concerned that she was waking up so much and not STTN. In fact, she said she's not surprised based on the fact she'd developed so much in a short amount of time. She thinks she's just preferring to explore her new skills and she can't do that from her crib and wants comfort as she grows. She actually suggested I just hold tight and give it a couple weeks before pushing harder with sleep training. Because of her weight, she still wants her to be given MOTN feedings (a friend had told me to stop feeding her). Here's DD this morning! She wouldn't sit still or leave the sticker alone.

Now for the side-eye. The paperwork I get always has a printout of general information separated into sections - feeding, development, safety, and guidance. It's not personalized, just based on which well visit you're at. Under safety, it actually says, "Your baby should always ride in a car seat facing backwards until he or she weighs 20 pounds AND is at least 1 year old." I was REALLY surprised by this coming from a pediatrician's office.

Re: 9 month appointment - stats plus a side-eye
That last part is definitely side-eye worthy. My pedi said at least two and preferably longer. They really need to get up to date with car seat safety.
Your DD is precious though!! Glad all is well and healthy!!
It shouldn't surprise you. Most pediatricians aren't up to date on the current recommendations at all. In fact, a lot of them denounce extended rear-facing. It's sad.
Your DD is so cute! Love her outfit today!
My ped has mentioned the RF until 2 recommendation (though the nurse at the last visit was surprised I knew it already).
But I did side-eye one of the nurses there at DD's 2 year well visit. She said I could turn her around now that she's 2. I said, she isn't tall enough to FF in her seat (the seat said 34 inches). The nurse said, their height doesn't matter until you get to booster seats, you can just go by age. Yeah, like I am going to ignore what it says right on her seat.
But most people must, because DD was like 90% for height and wasn't tall enough to FF until she was over 2. Even if the general recommendation was still 1 year, she wasn't tall enough for her seat. I am sure it is somewhat different for each seat, but...
That's worth a side-eye, IMO. G's pediatrician is older, so I expected some dated advice, but I was surprised when she said, "No FF until 24 months." I told SO that and he said there's no way he's going to be RF that long. Whatever, dude.
She's so cute! Pictures are only getting harder and harder to take.
SCANDAL!
Her outfit is Koala Baby from BRU
They had them on sale for $8. I think I'm going to get the pink and the blue set, too.
I'm hoping she STTN SOON! Mama needs sleep!
And I was surprised that the FF recommendation at 1 year came from this office. They're usually pretty with it when it comes to AAP stuff. I was really surprised by her height. She's only an inch from outgrowing the infant seat and I thought we had a long while longer before she had totally outgrown it! It was going to be the "back up" seat but it seems that won't work as our plan. We'll just have to move the convertible seat back and forth.

Really? I thought 9 month visits were standard. Her pedi went over a lot of developmental stuff. The only thing she hasn't hit is saying "mama" and "dada".
apparently not with our insurance. Kaiser does all the usual up to 6 months. then the only appointments are if the kid gets sick. next wellness for us is in August.
sucky part is I may have to find a new pedi by then because when I went in 6 weeks back LO's dr was very pregnant. :-( we loved this dr too!

I have heard that Kaiser is wonkey. DD is on my Aetna student insurance and it is AMAZING. I have zero copays for well or sick visits and, while pregnant, it covered even the obscure tests.
