Success after IF

POAS intervention - help!

I had a single FET on Thursday; it's too soon to POAS, right?  I started having bad cramps last night and feel cranky and bloated today.  I am almost certain it would be a BFN today, right?  I am secretly very optimistic even though I try not to get my hopes up - the REI and embryology lab people said it was a good looking "expanding blastocyst" but didn't give me more info.  I have some tests sitting in my bathroom...wait until tomorrow?  If I'm doing the math right, the transfer doesn't count as a day (?) so I'm only 4dp5dt.  Oh, and my ILs arrived the day after the FET and are here for 2 weeks, driving me crazy.  HELP!

Re: POAS intervention - help!

  • It's never too early!  At least for me it isn't.  I've received positives as early as 9dpo, which is equal to 4dp5dt.  However, I have heard that FETs sometimes take longer to get going.

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

  • Here's the thing. You might get a BFP at 4dp5dt or you might get a BFN just because it is still a little early. If it was me, I would wait. But I know that the BFN would be very hard to take. Some ladies can put it in perspective and be fine with the fact that it just might be too early. If you think you can do that then go ahead and POAS. But if seeing a BFN at this point is going to upset you then I would wait. GL!!!

  • I am a POAS pusher, so I'll always say DO IT!! I got a squinter at 4dp5dt, but my beta numbers were on the high side. I prefer to be slowly eased into bad news, so POASing early was always good for me.

Hoping for a beautiful second line!

I agree with this. For me the bfn was really hard to take so I always waited until 14 dpiui. GL!

  • So.....I couldn't help it and got a BFN, but I just decided to do it mid-day and only waited about 3 hours because I really had to pee.  I am hoping it is just too early.  With my first IVF, I got a BFN on day 11 (after ER) but a BFP on day 12.  In some strange way, I feel better and know that I can stop worrying about it the rest of the day and can commence worrying again when I wake up tomorrow to POAS.  Any other encouraging stories are much appreciated!!!
