  • Feeling OK. Nausea was a little worse this morning, but not terrible. Just trying to hang in there until our midwife appointment on the 13th.

QOTD: On my side, 0. Tater will be the first grandchild for my dad. On my wife's side, 13 cousins! My wife is the youngest of 6 and everyone has at least 2 kids.

  • Feeling healthy and starting to show already. I heard this can happen earlier with IVF but I don't know. I went to Santa Cruz pride parade yesterday in a rainbow minidress and it was very apparent that I am pregnant (especially now that I'm looking at the photos!)

QOTD: We are having the first grandchild for all parents on all sides. This is surprising because I have two sisters (one married, one engaged) and K has a brother who is 29. We didn't think we would be the first, but it turns out we are! I do want our child to have cousins, and my little sister who is about to get married really wants kids asap. When I was TTC I told her I would kill her if she got pregnant before me. I was joking of course. Sort of. But she's 27 and it wouldn't surprise me if she had a baby by this time next year.

  • Hello everyone! Happy Monday!

I am feeling good today.... (It's my first day off in the past 6, so it feels like a weekend to me). Not much has changed here.  Still waiting for our panorama testing (similar to mat21) to come back, hopefully everything comes back okay and finding out if it is a little boy or girl is an extra bonus.  So far the second trimester rocks and I am starting to get a little rounded bump. Glad to hear everyone else is doing well also.

QOTD: Our little one will have 4 cousins.  My sister is due 4 months before me so they will have 1 cousin the same age.

  • Hi All!

Doing well at the moment! We had our 37 week appointment on Thursday, and our 38 week one tomorrow. All seems to be going swimmingly, baby is head down, and in a good position, but he hasn't 'dropped' yet. I am feeling overall pretty well. I have definitely slowed down, my hips continue to hurt, but I'm putting that down to general pregnancy achiness, nothing more. I am so excited to meet this little guy - and the 3 months off of work to spend with him seem like heaven too! It still seems a little unreal that we will have a little baby in our house in less than 4 weeks time! EEEEK!

Any tips for a successful natural labor welcome!

QOTD - on my family's side, there are 7 cousins and on V's side there are 3. My family all live in other countries and V's youngest nephew is 12, so our little guy will  likely spend more time with our close friend's two children, I think they'll end up being cousin-types to him.

  • Time is flying by at an alarming rate now!  Can't believe there's just over 10 weeks left.  Our nursery still looks like a construction zone!!  At least we have the construction done, just need to get animals on the walls and make it look nice.  It's kind of scary that our shower isn't until July 3rd since we put buying things on a hiatus after my mom admonished us for buying things ("what will people buy for you if you get everything yourselves?")  I love reading the baby stories, I think "And Tango Makes Three" was the favorite so far since there were kicks and rolls and all kinds of movement the whole time.

QOTD: On my side there will be no cousins, on DP's side there will be three when ours is born, and a fourth coming a few months after ... possibly a fifth (could be twins) from DP's brother and sister-in-law.  Technically there are a couple more from an older brother, but he is excommunicated from the family and those children were adopted outside of the family (for the best).

We are doing pretty well. Confirmed at the doctor that I'm pregnant so now to make our first obgyn/midwife appointments. No terrible symptoms yet just exhausted.

QOTW: we have three nephews on my side and none on the wife's side. Everyone will be stoked if we have a girl. I have 4 brothers so the only girls in addition to me were married in.

  • Just now able to check the post today. I hit viability this week! Yay!!!! I'm feeling pretty good and although I've only gained about 4 pounds, I was overweight at the time of pregnancy.... But my hips are already starting to hurt during the night and getting up. Currently looking for maybe a better pillow or different sleeping techniques so that I won't wake up from the pain. I've finally started looking at registry items and plan to register in the next couple of weeks. Time just flies and I feel really behind on this! I'm currently overwhelmed by stroller options. Lol. Little baby is kicking up a storm, especially during the night, but I can definitely tell she's growing since I feel her every day now. It's pretty awesome.

She will have one cousin on my side. My sister has a son that will be nearly 2 when she is born. However we don't really have a close relationship so I don't see this as impactful. S's sister doesn't have children yet but they will start trying this summer. So, hopefully soon as we plan to share maternity clothes back and forth as long as they last and as log as we're both blessed with more children.

  • Our second beta showed a "robust increase" from 205 at 9dp5dt to 608 yesterday! We're still wondering whether there are one or two embryos in there. I'm only in week 4, so not having any symptoms yet really except my stomach seems more finicky than usual. Our clinic (Seattle Reproductive Medicine) doesn't do a third beta or any other monitoring until a week 7 ultrasound. It's kind of scary to just go on and assume we're still pregnant for a couple more weeks while worrying that I could have miscarried and not know it. Does that seem strange to you folks? I suppose I can do a HPT every few days but still it might take a while for those to turn negative after a loss.

We're suddenly thrilled and hopeful but also overwhelmed by all the new tasks. We need to find an OB but first need to decide what hospital we'd want to deliver at (take tours?). But it would really help to know if we're looking at a singleton or twins situation as far as informing those choices too!

Anyway, happy to be starting this pregnancy journey! Hang in there, little poppy seed(s)!

Oh, QOTW- one cousin so far.

Married to my wife since 3/16/12 (legally in WA since 5/31/12)
TTC #1 since Aug 2012 with frozen donor sperm
    3 home ICIs= BFNs
    HSG showed right tube blocked
3 medicated IUIs w/ an RE (Clomid and 1 dose Bravelle)= BFNs
IVF May 2013- long Lupron protocol
    ER 5/17/13: 21 eggs, 14 mature, 11 fertilized w/ ICSI
    ET 5/22/13: 2 blasts transferred, 2 frozen
    BFP on HPT 5/29/13! Beta #1: 205 Beta #2: 608
...hope and stay positive until OB ultrasound on 6/24/13
  • 35 weeks today! woo-hoo!

QOTD - this is interesting....okay on my side the answer is 0.  On DW's side they will have 11 first cousins and 10 second cousins.

  • I'm doing pretty well at the moment. Acupuncture helped a lot with my nausea today.

I'm an only child, my mom's an only child, and my grandmother was an only child. So, yeah, I was a bit freaked out when I found out I'm having twins. My mom got remarried when I was 23 though, so there is one step cousin that way. My wife has one sister who has a son, so there's one cousin that way, and some others over there through remarriage.
  • Hi everyone; first post in this forum... After 2 years ttc through ivf it worked! We are currently 11 weeks 3 days and so excited! We have two girls age 15 and 11 mine from a previous relationship and we used my wife's eggs and I am carrying. Can't wait for ms to be done! We are due December 26th.

On the cousin question there are 4 on my side and one on my wife's.

Sounds similar to our numbers, and I'm pregnant with twins. With those numbers I'm sure you'll be fine at the next apptment. Not weird at all to worry though; I was the same way. I was so scared of not hearing a heartbeat, and then I heard two! Keep us posted!
