Hi! & question

I feel like I should re-introduce myself. I'm a very sporadic poster and kind of disappeared after the FB group started. I have an older daughter, Natalie, who turns 4 in September and the baby, Hannah, who turns one on the 8th.

I have a question regarding switching to whole milk. We gave whole milk a try and my daughter would not drink it. I tried mixing it (4 oz formula, 2 oz milk) and she wouldn't drink it and I tried giving it to her straight milk and she wouldn't drink it. Anyone else have a LO who isn't a fan? What are you doing to help them transition? I'm also going to talk to her doctor at her 1 yr appointment about her possibly having a milk sensitivity. I don't notice any issues with formula but when we tried giving her milk her skin seemed kind of splotchy, really cranky, really bad diapers, and just refusing to drink it.  We're just sticking with formula for now until I can talk to the Dr about it.

Re: Hi! & question

  • Over the weekend, we tried whole milk with 4 oz of formula and 2 oz whole milk. She had such the tantrum and outright refused it.

I then mixed 5 to 1 oz and she took it no problem. I'm going to gradually increase this.

I would def talk to dr about her possible reaction to milk first.

  • I heard that many babies get really bad diapers when WCM is introduced but it is not necessarily a sensitivity. I haven't introduced it yet.

That's good to know. My first took right to milk so I had expected this one to do the same. lol

  • We haven't switched DD2 to WCM yet, but when we did it with DD1 we had to warm it up for a couple months to get her to drink it. She was used to room temp formula, so she wanted room temp WCM too. Eventually we just warmed it less and less and now she takes it straight from the fridge.

same thing happened with my nephew...he would only take it warmed up.

  • All my boys (DS3 gets 2 sippies of WM a day now) took about a week to a week and half to get use to the whole milk and they all had bad diapers that week. Once they got use to it they were fine and now they are all milkoholics. I give whole milk in sippies and do not mix it. That way they knew the difference. DS3 still gets some formula and will until the 22nd in a bottle. It took him about a 1 1/2 weeks really to get to liking the taste. It took him longer then my other boys.
