I like stuffing cooked in the bird. However, if you stuff the turkey, you have to cook the everlovingshit out of it to get the stuffing to the right temp and then the turkey is dry. I'd rather have stuffing cooked in a dish than dryasfuck turkey
Not to start a whole "turkey war", but basting does not do a darn thing for the meat. I mean, you're just drizzing juice over skin, which is full of fat, so juice isn't going to sink in.
Plus, it lets all the heat out of the oven so it takes longer to cook your turkey. If you want juicy turkey, you should brine, in which case you can't stuff anyway because it get salty.
We do both and I like both...just preferred it baked outside.
When I do the turkey I brine it ....basting is the worst thing you can do....but I dont stuff the bird when I use brine.
