My DD doesn't seem to want to sleep still in her crib without her swaddler and it getting so hot I don't want to overheat her. Any suggestions on how to get her to sleep without it? Not sure what to do here. I've tried her with one arm out, both out, and don't have a lot of money to spend on other products. A little help please.
Re: Swaddle Weening
We also went cold turkey last night. We tried the one arm in, one arm out, and that just made him mad. It took him a little while to go to sleep, but when he did, he actually slept a lot better and was able to self soothe himself better. He woke up this morning and happily played in his crib until I went and got him, where as before, he would scream when he woke up in the mornings. I think it gets to a point, where they don't sleep well in the swaddle because they are too confined and want more freedom to move around. Good luck!
After several bad nights, we decided we had to try something different (we had been using the miracle blanket). We put her in a halo sleep sack, arms out. Haven't looked back. That was about a week ago. She is 5 1/2 months.
ETA: We keep the A/C pretty cool at night - around 68 - 70. I like it cool to sleep. I put her in footed pajamas and the sleep sack and she seems fine. If I was worried about over-heating, I'd probably do a short sleeved onesie under the sleep sack. I remember reading somewhere that babies are generally okay with whatever you need to sleep - so think about what you're wearing and how many sheets/blankets you want to have on you during the night and try to imitate that with their pjs/swaddles/sleep sacks etc. I know people who have swaddled with only a diaper on underneath b/c of heat.
