Baby Names

Lucky

Met a cute 5 year old with the name Lucky, I asked his mom if it was a nn for something and it isn't.

I thought it was cute but I don't see it being cute past the age of 7.

Re: Lucky

  • What if they are unlucky?  I agree with you, it's cute for little ones, and I can see it being a cute nickname, but as a full name...I am not a fan
  • I'm pretty sure I've seen a movie (other than 101 Dalmatians) where this was a man's name. Yet, it's still an odd choice and it screams Britney Spears to me, also I think if anything it'd be better suited for a girl (born in the sixties).

I've always thought this about people named "Beautifull" and such... -_- the teasing they'd get would be so sad.

  • Yeah... I wouldn't want to be an adult Lucky. I also consider it a pet name... I had a dog named Lucky.

It was the name of Tupac Shakur's character in Poetic Justice. I actually think it suited him.

I knew I saw it somewhere! Thank you.

  • I'm picturing a man introducing himself and saying "hi, it's nice to meet you, I'm Lucky" and having the people he meets wonder if that's his name or if he's just telling them that he has good luck in general.

I bet he'll think of some snazzy pick up lines to go with his name though!

  • I'm pretty use to seeing it on an adult on "General Hospital".
  • It strikes me as a gangster nickname - like Lucky Luciano.

Poor thing. It really is more of a nn. If I met a man IRL and he said :I'm Lucky" I would probably laugh and walk away. It really sounds like a line.

But it really is a cute nn or name for a pet.

YES! This is where I had heard it on a man! My mom use to watch GH when I was younger. and to the other PP about gangsters, I totally agree, but I'm pretty sure that was only a nn and not his legit name.

  • It's cute for a nn, but not a name.
  • Wow.

  • It's kinda like the name Chance I guess

Yeah, but even then, it's really a nickname. His real name is Luke Jr.

  • Lol we have close friends who have their daughter, her middle name is lucky...

    ::SMH::
  • They must be Elvis fans! Elvis' character in "Viva Las Vegas" is a racecar driver named Lucky.

It's actually a pretty fun NN, but I would absolutely want a more formal name to go with it. I don't think it would look good on a business card.
