At What Age?

Hi Mommies,

At what age can you let your baby go longer than 3 hours in between feedings? My DS normally eats every 2 hours during the day and then at night will go 5-6 hours. He is normally not a good napper during the day but was able to get him to take one this morning. But it has been longer than 3 hours so I am not sure if I should wake him up etc. He is 6 weeks old and has had good weight gain.

Any advice would be great. :) Thanks!

  • You don't need to wake a sleeping baby to eat. If he's hungry, he'll wake up

yup.  My doctor said the only exception is newborns that are jaundiced.  Because jaundice can make them too tired to want to eat.

  • DS was sleeping 5-6 hrs at 3 weeks, but was over 11 lbs. I wouldn't wake them.

If i could get DD to do that i would be thrilled.
