Umbrella strollers

I'm researching umbrella strollers to use for travel this summer, and I noticed that some models offer a 5 point harness rather than the 3 point lap belt... Anyone have any opinions pros/cons on the two types?
5 point seems safer, but maybe a 3 point is for the convenience factor?
I'm down to these two strollers, they are both 40 dollars:

Or
Jeep wrangler all weather

I love the color of the jeep stroller and the mesh back would be great in the heat, but the other seems better overall... Thoughts? Anyone have and love/hate either of these?

Re: Umbrella strollers

  • I think it depends on how old the baby is.DS2 (9 months) hates having the shoulder straps on because our stroller does not sit in an upright position and he wants to. If I just put the 3 point lap belt on he can sit up straight (our stroller does have the child tray on it)

A younger baby I would go for a 5pt, or check to see if the 5point can be used as a 3 point (mine can) and then you would have the option in case your baby is like mine

  • We LOVE love LOVE our Uppababy G-Lite umbrella stroller. It has a five point harness. We do a lot of traveling, and it is super for it. We bought the travel bag for it, and it protects it really well. The stroller is super lightweight, folds and sets up in a flash, and is a great height. Love it.
  • We have the keep one and love it! It's very sturdy, not like other umbrella strollers. Ours is only a 3 point tho, I would like it to be a 5.
  • We only use the umbrella stroller for going to the Y because I can strap her in and get dressed/undressed and then get her into her bathing suit, etc. It folds up into our locker. Its a 3 point and she can turn around and stand up in it no matter how tight we make the straps. I would go for a 5pt.

  • I have a first years jet. I like it well enough. I do like the 5 point harness since DS tries to climb out. It sits upright enough for him to be happy when he's awake, and while it doesn't recline a lot, it's enough for him to sleep if we're out during a nap time.
