Teething?

My LO has her hands in her mouth non-stop and is drooling up a storm.  I looked at her gums today and noticed tiny little white buds that look like teeth are at the very early stages of coming in.  Seems super early for 9.5 weeks.  Any one else having a similar experience?

Re: Teething?

  • My LO is 10 weeks old today and has been gnawing on his hands and bottle for the last couple weeks and drooling a bunch as well. I thought he might be teething because he's been a little more fussy too...until someone on here mentioned that this is exactly the time when our LOs start to produce saliva and also when they start exploring by putting different things in their mouths. This makes a ton of sense for my LO. However, if yours has little white buds in their mouth then, yes, I'd say she is teething.

  • It may be, or it may not be. My son went through the same thing. Based on the white buds, his pedi even thought his teeth were starting to come in at his 2 month appointment. It's possible for teeth to come in that early, but not probable. My son's didn't come in until he was 11 months old.
  • My LO is 9 weeks also, and is doing the same thing.  My mom looked in her mouth and said "oh there's her teeth!"  ...meaning little white buds under her gums.  I think its waaaaay to early to be teething though... but I'm no doctor :)
  • My LO is the same age and doing the same thing. She's not drooling all the time, but a lot. And she loves licking her hands or anything that comes near her mouth. I thought it might be teething but maybe it's just a normal part of development.

  • My LO is doing the same thing. I know it is possible for him to be teething because my nephew had teeth when he was a little over 2 months but he was way way early. I really do not think my LO is teething though.
  • Super early..I work for pediatric dentist..earliest he has seen was 3 half months ..

    When do baby teeth ?
All of us have teeth, but the age at which we get first tooth or milk tooth, is not the same for all. Some children get their first tooth by the age of 4 months while others may not get one till one year. Both types of children are normal, provided they are healthy and active otherwise. Napoleon and Julius Ceaser were known to be born with a tooth. You cannot judge a child as being extra bright for teething early, nor can you define one as backward dust because he has teethed late. An average child gets the first tooth around the seventh month. However, the child very often tends to start drooling, biting and getting irritable, months before this.
  • My LO is 8 weeks and loves chewing on his hands and drooling. He isnt teething as far as I can tell. My nephew on the other hand did start teething at 3 months.
