chaning nap schedule?

alright so to begin with DD sleeps roughly 11 hours at night STTN. and normally would have 3 naps a day, roughly spaced evenly throughout the day at about 45-60 minutes each. so in the past week she seems to be dropping her third nap. now i wouldn't have a problem with this if her napping was more even, but she is still napping for only an hour for her 2 naps, and those are at roughly the same time as before. so she has about 2 hours between waking up and her first nap. about 2 and a half to 3 hours between her first and second nap, and it used to be about 2-3 hours between the second and third. so the timing is the same, just dropping her third nap.

my problem is that she is obviously super tired around the time of what used to be her third nap. and no matter what i try, she just won't fall asleep. i have tried re arranging her other two naps, but she is just too tired and gets fussy if i try to keep her up past the normal time that she would nap.

anyone else get this problem too? what can i do?

Re: chaning nap schedule?

  • Nap transitions can be super-hard. What I usually do is gradually work up the awake time before each nap by 5-10 minutes per day until it's where I want it to be. There usually is a rough patch until my LO adjusts to it, and whenever we drop a nap (we've always dropped the last nap of the day), it takes a week or two for him to start acting relatively normal during the long stretch of time before bed. Good luck!
