Is it really possible to pee yourself and not know it?

Since this has yet to happen to me, I find it hard to believe when people post about leaking fluid and others suggest maybe you peed yourself that I would not know whether it was discharge (or perhaps fluid) or pee. Do you lose all feeling of the different muscles down there near the end? Oh god now I am all stressed about peeing myself and being the last to know....

  • It isn't so much that you lose feeling. ?It is more like you feel pressure like you need to pee all.the.time, so it makes you wonder if you did in fact leak a little urine.
  • Loading the player...
  • Personally, so far, no. I know what hole things are coming out of so to speak. For instance - the shit usually comes out of my mouth...
  • Unless you are drunk, I think it should be easy to tell the difference. You feel pee coming out... and I would think our water just comes out voluntarily. I don't know, I would just think you'd be able to tell a difference feeling-wise.

(Insert foreshadowing montage to me standing in my bedroom wondering if I just pissed on myself).

  • You will know when it is too late. Esp when there is sudden pressure somewhere below that makes your urethra spasm.
  • Unfortunately, yes, I can personally attest to this.  Late in my last PG I thought I was leaking amniotic fluid and was informed by my OB that I had, indeed, just been pissing myself in small amounts.  Ah the joys.

  • I agree with Chancie.  It's not like I'm wetting my pants like a 2 year old, it's not a flood.  But every now and then like when I'm getting up from the sofa, laughing too hard, picking something up that's too heavy, whatever, I think some just comes out.

BTW, if I went to the bathroom every time I felt like I had to pee in the last 3 weeks, I'd never leave.

  • Sometimes the baby will hit my bladder in just the right spot and I pee a little. I don't realize it's happened until I get up and feel that it's wet. Awesome.
  • I can understand accidentally peeing yourself and knowing that's what happened, it's the not knowing that I hope I never have to ask for assistance on Stick out tongue

I am so glad that someone else has an evil bladder attacking baby like mine! The other day at work I seriously had no idea that she made pee leak out by doing that, so yes it is possible to pee yourself and not really know.
