Natural Birth

Intro.

I am 7w 1d. When I had my ultrasound we saw one healthy baby and one blighted ovum. I was in shock, so I forgot to ask any of the natural birth questions. I do know that my ob won't let me go past 41wks and I'm allowed to keep kick boxing (Yay). Of course, I will do an adjusted routine.

I went to the library to research hypnobirthing. They had one book in the entire library system, so it will take a week to get. The library also had no Ina May Gaskin books. Is there any books that you would recommend? TIA.

Re: Intro.

  • I love Ina May's books and think they are worth the purchase if you can't find it as a loaner. My MW office has a book library on natural birthing I can borrow from but I'm not sure how common that is. I started What to Expect... But found it dull and a slow read so i never finished it.
DH read what to expect when you're expecting for dads and enjoyed it. He is about to begin reading the husband coached birthing for Bradley method book [im sure I messed that title up] so I can't comment on how that one is yet.
I also read Jenny mcarthy's Belly Laughs right after I found out I was pregnant and found it hysterical. It's not about natural birthing by any means but is just a blunt comical take of all the things no one told her would happen during pregnancy.

Thank you. I wonder if BAM would have Ina's books? I will check.

  • I definitely recommend Jenny McCarthy's book. It was hilarious!
These are great recommendations for books, I was curious as to some good books to read besides our Bradley Method work book.
