Hcg levels do you have to test?

I was just reading about all the Hcg testing going  on and was wondering is that routine and I need to make an appt.  I am only about 4 weeks.  When should you call the Dr. and set up a first appt otherwise?  All new to me.

This is my 4th pregnancy and the one time my levels were tested is when I was miscarrying my first.

I had a close call with my first, and my levels were checked only because of that.  I had very low progesterone, so with my 2nd and 3rd they tested my levels early just to make sure progesterone wasn't an issue (it was... both times!)

If you're having an otherwise normal pregnancy your doctor may not order blood tests.
