Wakes up crying every single time!

So does anyone's LO cry every time they wake up?  DS has a full blown meltdown until we "save" him from his room in the morning (or after his naps).  I'm not even kidding, every wake up is a screaming/crying fit.  Not once have DH and I been woken up in the morning because he's entertaining himself.  Nope - full on screaming his head off is how our mornings start (pleasant 6 a.m. alarm!).

He does have really bad separation anxiety so I think it just has to do with him waking up alone... but wow.  I really didn't think he'd still be doing it at this point.

Not sure what I'm looking for here, maybe just to know he's not the only one..?

  • I'd say A wakes up this way about 70% of the time.  The rest of the time she wakes up fine, but I really have about a 30 second window to get up there before the wailing starts.

She wakes up from her nap screaming almost every single time.

  • Gator was that way until we put a radio with soft music playing in her room. She would wake up and instantly scream 100 percent of the time. Since the radio, it's like once a week...sometimes less. She will wake up and lay there for a bit, play with her stuff animal, and then eventually start yelling to see if we come...but no screaming

Oh sweet relief.  I'm not the only one.  Thanks for the replies, ladies.

  • I'd say 90 of the time it's a screaming fit, and I live for that ten percent where I can see and hear her chattering to her animals or singing to herself. melts. my. heart.

  • DS was that way too when he was this age.  I would hear my friends talk about their LOs waking up and just playing in their crib for awhile before they'd go in to get them.  I was like "What?  That's not even remotely a possibility in our house."  He'd wake up just pissed off, and I'd have to go in immediately.  It was a phase though, and he outgrew it sometime in the 2s.  Now DD is the same way 75% of the time.  And she's waking up at 5:30am right now, so my mornings start off nice and early with a blood-curdling scream.  It's fun.
