DD2 has had tubes now for two and a half months and has continued to have ear infections and a lot of nasal drainage as well. Today, the doctor recommended removing her adenoids. I agreed, but now I'm sort of second guessing. You never really hear about a barely one year old (turn one on Sunday) getting their adenoids out. Has anyone else had a similar experience??
Re: Adenoid Removal? Anyone have experience?
DS had tubes at 4 months and continued to get infections so the day after he was 11 months he got a 2nd set of tubes and adenoids removed. He's now 21 months and has only had one very minor ear infection. He does need his tonsils removed but we are trying to hold off a bit to see if he will ever need tubes again.
If DD ever needs tubes I will do adenoids at the same time just out of ease.
Great to know! Thank you! My family is making me second guess, but I just feel so bad for her! She's had infections non-stop since she was 4 months, but they didn't even figure it out until she was 6 months (it was a thick layer of gunk in her eustation tubes that kept getting infected and the pedi couldn't see it). I just hope this makes her feel better!
DS1 had it done at 18 months along with tubes and was easy and very quick. Healing process was also very easy. DS2 got tubes 2 months ago and at that time adenoids were fine so they got left in. Now they are huge so I wish we had done it then anyway. ENT is treating it with a Batriban/saline mix nasal spray. Because she and I agree he may need his tonsils out eventually also we are trying to hold off on the adenoids as long as possible until he is a little older so she can do the tonsils also at that time if infant he does need them out. DS1 had his tonsils out 2 months ago and that was HELL!
