I was friends with a Marlena in highschool, Mar LAY na. We also graduated with a Marlana, so they both always had to spell out their names a lot, but they pronounced it the same. I think most of the moms that use it got it from the Days of Our Lives character.
Re: Marlena
I pronounce it Mar- lay-na I do like it I seem to like a lot of "M" names lately

Mar-lay-nah.
I love it. It's my cousin's name, and we call her Lainey as a NN.

If I'm having a girl (fingers crossed), that is the name we're using.
I love it and it's not even in the top 1000. We pronounce it Mar-lee-na, MILs name is Marlene.
On first glance I would pronounce it Mar-lay-na. I am not a huge fan of the name, due to a bad personal experience with it... so I'm biased!
I actually do like the name "Lena," though, which could be a good nn.
