My husband is a major traditionalist when it comes to names. Our daughter is Katherine (we call her Kate). I am pregnant right now and we really cannot agree on girls names that we both LOVE. There are a few we both like, but nothing that either of us are crazy about.
On our list right now (and this is being generous, DH hates talking baby names so this is basically names I am okay with that he hasn't outright vetoed).
Elizabeth Wren
Caroline Wren
Vivian Wren
Alexandra Wren
He really likes long formal names with spunky/short (yet not "out there") nicknames. Of the names above, I actually prefer Caroline but am shying away because we have a Kate and a Connor. A third C/K gives me pause.
After that I think I like Elizabeth, but I'm not crazy about the nicknames and I know he'll want something (not just call her straight Elizabeth).
So... What do you think of these names? Wren is family and non-negotiable even though I know it isn't everyone's cup of tea . And what are your favorite nicknames for Elizabeth?
I'm up for other suggestions that fit our "style" too. He has already vetoed Genevieve, Allison, Amelia, Violet, and Mallory.

Re: Nicknames for Elizabeth
My new niece is Elizabeth nn Libby.
I also really love Eliza, but that seems a little quirky with your sibset.
I think Beth is a great fit with Kate and Connor.
Other nicknames for Elizabeth: Ellie, Elsie, Lizzie, Buffy, Bess/Bessie (Love Bess), Betty (another favorite), and Besty.
Elizabeth has so many nicknames and is a great choice!
My favorite name on this list is Elizabeth. Favorite NNs are Libby, Bess, and Betty.
eta: Love Wren as MN!

Sorry, but I had another thought!
Maybe a double first name? Mary Wren?
If DH or later DD wanted a nn Molly would work great!
I think it would compliment your sibset well.
Me too! But does it bother you that we have a Kate and Connor already? Does Kate, Connor, and Caroline sound matchy/wrong?
Does it make it worse that our last name starts with a Q so has a "Kwa" sound?
I might just be overthinking this.

My niece is Elizabeth, but I always forget that because it was always my brother and his wife's intention that she go by Elsie.
She's 5 now and I'm not sure she's totally aware her full name is Elizabeth, ha!

I agree that Ellie is out as nn. Too many Ellies out there. I also will veto Liz/Lizzy.
I think I like Betsy and Betty. Kind of vintage and cute. Elle is nice, very "Legally Blonde", but I have a feeling it would morph into Ellie if we did that.
What do you guys think of Elsie?

No, Caroline actually sounds great with our last name. I am just worried that as a sib-set it is getting a little Duggar-ish.

I love Elizabeth nn Libby.
For something spunky or unusual, what about nn Birdie or Busy?

I really like all of the names on your list, but especially Elizabeth.
If you like a short/ sweet NN-- what about Bette (like Bette Midler) or Bess?
as far as suggestions go, what about
Melanie
Natalie
Elena
Corrine
Bridget
Veronica
Elise
BTW, I love Wren in the MN spot. Are you finding out what you are having?

I think Elsie is a cute, unusual nn choice for Elizabeth. I like it.
Betsy is my favorite ever, though.
I just want to give you a world as beautiful as you are to me.

I know dammit! I might push Allison a bit with him. Alexandra was a second choice because I love Allie especially with Kate and Alexandra happens to be my grandmother's favorite name and since Wren is after her, having Alexandra there would be extra meaningful to her.
Yea, I know deep down I have to give Caroline up.
Back to Elizabeth, don't hate me but I'm not a huge fan of Beth. Bad school aged experience that had stuck with me.

If Kate works with the "Kwa" sound, Caroline will probably too. Just keep saying it over and over and see if it annoys you.
My siblings and I are all "k" sounds in the first name. It really is not as noticeable as you think. People do notice, but it's never bothered me or my siblings.
Caroline Wren is a very pretty name, I think it makes a nice sibset.
I love Libby. So pretty. I also like Elsie, but not as a nn, just straight Elsie.
I don't like Beth.

I have a Betty. She's the youngest one I know by about 90 years. People seem to love her name.
I also like Betsy and Libby. I think Elizabeth Wren is a fantastic name (I love the way Betty Wren sounds...really quirky and cute).
