how do I clean leather shoes?

DS has a pair of leather Stride Rite sandals.  He's been wearing them for about 4 weeks and they are already SUPER stinky.  I made the mistake of putting a pair of Robeez in the washer and the leather shrunk so I'm kind of afraid to do that again.  I have to clean them somehow because they are really bad.  Any suggestions?

Leather does shrink. even if you hand wash with cold water, there will be shrinkage, due to the fact that it's leather, and the tanning process stretches the hide. Your best bet would be to pull them out right after washing, put them on DSs feet, and let his feet stretch them while they are still damp. Then pull them off and let them air dry.
