Wake or let sleep?

DS is 3 wks and has been gaining weight fine and eating well. He had 20 ounces yesterday and plenty of wet and dirty diapers with 9 feedings. He last ate 5 hours ago though and has been sleeping since. I'm tempted to let him wake when he wants to eat. But do I need to get him up at some point?

Re: Wake or let sleep?

  • I def understand wanting to let your baby sleep, but I wouldn't let them go much longer than 4 hrs without eating, at least for the first 46 weeks. My little guy never slept that long when he was a newborn so you're lucky!

  • If he is gaining weight fine, let that LO sleep! I definitely think zzz's for all is always a good thing. He'll wake up when he is hungry Smile

Let him sleep....unless there's a medical reason to get him up.

What I would give for 5 straight hours!!!
  • Thanks, all. It has made for a really nice night!! He's certainly not consistent with sleep but I'll definitely take it when I can.

During the day I ALWAYS woke DS up to eat. During the night I NEVER woke him. I wanted him sleeping at night, not all day.
