My little girl will be 4 weeks tomorrow and in the last couple of days she has started crying a lot more in between feedings and diaper changes. I know when she is crying I should just leave her to soothe herself but it can be really difficult to watch her scream like that. Should I just leave her until she falls back asleep or is there a point at which she needs to be soothed by me??
Re: When to help soothe my baby....
No, you shouldn't just leave your baby to cry at 4 weeks old. She needs you right now. She spent the last 9 months constantly held, warm, fed and snuggled inside you, and the world is still brand new and scary. Pick her up and hold her, cuddle her, keep her close every time she cries. She's 4 weeks for goodness sake.
I suggested this in the post above yours, but you might do well to google "fourth trimester."
I tend to agree... Are people really that uneducated? Or heartless? How can you leave an infant to cry it out? It pains me just to read these types of posts.
soothe her when she is crying but put her back down when she has calmed down. Make sure she stays awake
Why put her back down when she is calm? And why would you make sure the baby stays awake? 4 week old babies need to sleep.... a lot.
