Okay, I've had severe RLS most of my life and the 2 things I've found that help the most (aside from Rx's) are magnesium supplements and getting in a bath of really hot water that just covers your legs. You only need to stay in for like 10 minutes or so, and my OB said this is fine as long as your abdomen isn't covered or anything because your body will still be able to regulate its temperature. But depending on how bad it is, it may come back once you get out of the bath. So I always take the magnesium (I take a 250mg capsule) as soon as I feel it starting and get in the bath 15 minutes later or so if it's still getting worse. That way you have the magnesium getting into your system while you have the bath relieving the immediate symptoms.
Also heating pads work, but unless you have enough to cover your entire legs, I always felt like I was just miserable and trying to constantly move them and never got any sleep.
Son: Jackson, 11/02/06, stillborn due to PPROM and IUGR. Over the next ten years we had 9 miscarriages from 8-14 weeks. On May 18, 2016 my daughter, Ridley, was born. We're OADNBC.
I always laughed at the commercials for RLS thinking it couldn't possibly be a real thing! But now of course Karma has come back and kicked me in the butt or legs. Hahaha. Lesson learned!!
