3rd Trimester

Kinda confused about movements.

I have the my pregnancy babycenter app and it has the baby movement tracker thing where it sees how long it takes for the baby to move ten times and it says if there's a big change to call the dr. And that's where I'm lost because there are some days where she is just lazy and doesn't move much. What kind of change am I looking for? I just did it and dang, it took 22 minutes for 10 movements lol. I thought she was active til I started the tracker and she just stopped lol

That's pretty good though. I think the normal count is ten kicks in one or two hours. Yesterday I was getting mixed answers whether it is one or two. Anyways my little one has been kind of lazy the last few days but today she's been active. I'm trying to make sure I stay hydrated!
  • I can honestly say I never ever did kick counts with my son and I've never done them with this pregnancy either.

If I feel her move throughout the day and feel her moving in general then it's all hunkey dorey to me.

lol, I was just about to post the same exact thing, glad I read responses first.

I've never done kick counts in either pregnancy and my OB has never once mentioned them. That shitt'll drive you nuts, IMO. I wouldn't worry unless you have a very noticeable lack of movement.

Hahaha that's true! Yeah I don't wanna worry too much and freak outtt but I was curious though : thank you! As Long as she's doing some kind of movement.
  • I figure as long as LO is moving I'm not going to worry.  I can tell usually that s/he is sleeping and don't expect to feel much movement then.  Other times I almost feel like I get too much movement and it's distracting!

For whatever reason, my baby is really quiet on Mondays. It's like his day of rest. Every other day there's consistent movement, but on Mondays, all the poking, cold apple juice and laying on my left side do nothing more than prompt a lazy flutter or two.
  • Thank you for posting this. My OB suggests counting kicks starting in a few weeks. Fetuses sleep ~75% of the time and most of their movement is at night while we sleep. My baby does move at random times during the day too. However, I don't feel right about drinking sugary drinks and poking my belly to get the baby moving at a specific time.

After reading these posts, I'm planning to talk with my OB about just monitoring if I notice a decrease in movement.

My OB told me I didn't need to do kick counts, unless I noticed a dramatic decrease over the course of a day. Then I'm supposed to drink something cold or sugary, lay on my side, and look for 10 movements in an hour. It sounds like your LO is fine!

I agree with this. I asked my dr because some days he is very mobile and some days not do much. She said anything that is out of your normal call. She said as long as I can feel him periodically 10 times before noon she said he is fine. Lazy days may be growth spurts
