Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Is this teething already?

DS has not slept as well the past day and half, he's screamed more than he ever has, he has been extra drooly and eating hands lots, his nose has been red... Is this teething? He's only 3 months... His cousin is almost 5 months and has been teething for about a week.

Re: Is this teething already?

  • Could be. Teething also can cause a slight fever, lack of sleep, and less eating. Could also be him going through a growth spurt, or a slight cold. Babies naturally drool and chew, teething or not so I tend to not associate those two things first hand, unless I start to see more signs. Let him chew away, it can help cut teeth faster if he is in fact teething.

Teething usually happens between 3-9 months, so I wouldn't doubt it.

  • Probably not.  All those things are pretty typical of all babies.

  • Maybe, maybe not. He could be if he is early teether but this can also be a growth spurt. Is he eating? Are you feeding him on demand? The screaming could be that he is overtired from not sleeping too. I would give it a couple days if its not too unbearable and then maybe call his ped.

  • Sounds like it! My lo got his first 2 teeth at 3 months and is about to cut 34 any day at almost 5 months.
