childcare costs?

Hi all!  I'm a first-time mom, not due til December.  My husband & I are trying to run the numbers to see if it will be worth it for me to go back to work after the baby is born--we don't want my entire paycheck to go toward childcare.  Obviously, costs will vary based on location, facility vs. in-home care, etc.  I'm just wondering if those of you who have little ones in daycare or with caregivers could give me a little insight into what kind of prices we're looking at in NJ.

As you said, it depends on where you're looking.  In Hoboken full time 5 days a week can be $2000, but in the Edison area it's only $1000.  I'd recommend calling some places near you to get price quotes.

For 2 its $2k to $3k a month..

I am in Mercer Co, and we pay $1400 a month.

When I was working it cost me 1k in bergen county and that was on the lower side

Ours runs $300/wk in the Mercer County area, though we pay less because of a double-discount since the daycare offers discounts to employees of my husband's job and both his and my jobs do daycare reimbursements (and mine also allows you to put money away pre-tax for child care, which is also awesome). Make sure you look into all of those options, too, since you never know. My entire paycheck probably will be going toward daycare once #2 comes along, at least for the two years they'll both be in there, but we still had a fair bit of savings left over with just one baby.

In this area, the costs are 1200-1800 a month for 5 days full time infant care.

I've checked Goddard in Ewing 1400 nothing included RWJ Lakeview in Ewing 1300ish include diapers and snacks and bright Horizons in Lawrenceville 1300ish, snacks. All were great. Goddard was the only one that for infants you pretty much had to do full time/5 days, the others had pt options.

Next up learning experience in pennington and Miriam Morris in Hamilton

we're in wm...and we take dd to a day care in oakland...we pay just under $900 for 4 days....all the other places i looked into in that area were around $1000 for the week...
