Around their second birthdays (and still) my kids were addicted to their toy kitchen, cleaning cart with toy broom/vacuum/etc, Lego blocks, nesting blocks, and Melissa and Doug puzzles.
Trains. Get some wooden universal train tracks or a whole train table if you are thinking big. Trust me. 2.5 years and one more kid later its still the best toy I have ever purchased. I buy them for every kid I know around that age and their parents are always "they love it....how did you know...its their fave....blah blah blah" And every parent I know can't be full of *** you know?
He turned 2 in February and loves building toys (blocks, Duplos, peg boards, etc.) and imaginative toys (play kitchen, cutting food, shopping cart, vacuum).
