name change! Help!!

My son has his fathers last name. Me and him are not together. and i wanted to changed my sons last name to mine. the thing is he didnt even file the birth certificate. So it says father not stated. just wondering how much it would cost to get it changed if anyone knows? thanks

It depends on what state you live in, I believe.  My daughter isn't born yet and BD and I split months ago, so I can't really help you other then to say you can call a lawyer and ask him/her.  They don't charge you unless you go in and see them, even then they don't always charge for a consult.  Hope that helps a little bit

Look on the website for the county you live in. I changed my name last year (not marriage related; just because...). It cost me $125. I went to the court in my local county and did it.

It shouldn't cost too much..look into your local county, it will probably vary depending on where you live.

Probably depends on the state but I was in the exact same situation and still had to serve him with paperwork. I wasn't able to just "change her last name" and pay a few even though there was no father listed on the birth cert. and since the last name isn't yours its not like you can say you don't know who the father is you know? Good luck!;
