Taco Tuesday

Ok, so any food discussion. Tacos just start with T.

How was everyone's weekend bbq? Any other food preferences and fantasies we wish to discuss? We had some nice BBQ chicken this weekend. Also some amazing bacon for brekkies on Sunday. Mmmmmm...

    I BBQ'd steak for the first time in years and it turned out great!  I also played a couple rounds of disc golf and drank a ton of jager and Summer Shandy with friends.  Too bad yesterday was a washout though.

    I could go for a taco right about now.

    My oldest spiked a fever Sunday evening, so I missed the in-laws' BBQ.  They brought me cold leftovers to reheat, but it is nowhere near the same.  So instead, I had a Papa John's pizza.

    That is a mild bummer. Sorry your kid had a fever, and hope it has broken and it's all smiles and happiness now.

    It was the oddest thing... he was running a fever, but acting completely fine.  Even when he spiked up to a 101.7, he was running around the house acting like nothing was wrong.  We just didn't take him to the BBQ because we were worried about his cousins, especially his preemie 2 month old cousin who got out of the NICU about 3 weeks ago (who wound up not attending).

    We did beer brats on Sunday with hamburgers. 

    I already do make a good vinegar(wine)/oil marinated that I use on pork and chicken mainly.

    I have been experimenting with a more traditional BBQ sauce using tomato sauce and maple syrup.  It is about the only way I can get my wife to eat maple syrup.

    Sounds like me when I was younger.  I would still go strong with fevers around 103.  My LO is getting over a virus where he was running low grade fevers but when he started to refuse to take medicine we just watched him.

    A friend brought us some shredded bbq chicken on Sunday.  We had some good sandwiches with that.

    I'm sorry, I only posted it to inspire jealousy.  Seething jealousy.

    To be honest they didn't look perfect like that picture but they were still pretty good.  I found out the hard way before that it's pretty easy to overcook a scallop on the grill.

    I'm supposed to get a bunch of fresh figs in the fall from a co-workers tree. I cannot WAIT to make bacon wrapped figs!

    Bacon wrapped dates are amazing too.
