Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

18 month sleep regression?

I've heard about this but don't know how true it is. DS is turned 17 months in a couple days and has been fighting his naps for the past week. Didn't know if anyone else has gone through it or has tips.

Thanks!

Re: 18 month sleep regression?

  • YEP! We started skipping naps at about 18 months, she is almost 21 now and still doesn't really take them unless she's really tired. She was sleeping 12 a night, but since learning to climb out of the crib, it's been 9-10 because she is fighting me at bed time too. I have no tips, I am still sorting it out myself, but I will let you know if I find something that works! I am so flustered, we had SUCH a great thing going with sleep lol.

  • yup. 18 month sleep regression hit us hard. naps were fine but she would scream for hours at bed time and during the night. stopped as suddenly as it started and she went back to normal. so sorry no advice, but it is a real regression and it will pass too!

  • Huh, so that's what is going on with my DD!!!  Some nights she fights sleep soooo hard, as in going to bed 2+ hours later than normal.  She's still napping fairly regularly and waking around the same time (6:30'ish), but getting her down has been difficult.  For her it's that she's more aware of everything.. the dog barking, where's daddy, there's a train, a motorcycle just drove by, it's still really light outside.... and the list goes on and on.

Hopefully this passes soon.  If not, just know you're not the only one going through this :)
