Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Diabetes?

I'm not 100% sure where to post this. Hope this is ok.

Does any odd have any experience with their toddler being diagnosed with diabetes?

Re: Diabetes?

  • Sorry, no direct experience. I know that my cousin was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at 18 months old though. Type 2 is totally different though. Which type were you told? (And if it helps, said cousin is now 36 years old and thriving. She had an insulin pump implanted years ago.)

  • My BIL was when he was 8 mo.  If you would like, PM me with any questions and I can ask MIL about her experiences.

  • Thanks ladies. We haven't gotten the official diagnosis yet, waiting on some tests. It's all a little nerve wracking.

  • Hope everything is OK.  typeonenation.org is a great site, run by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, where you can talk to other parents who are going through this/have been through it already.  There's a lot of support on this site.  And info on local T1 groups.  We got a lot of reassurance and good info there when my husband was diagnosed (at 30 years old!).
