Sorry, no direct experience. I know that my cousin was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at 18 months old though. Type 2 is totally different though. Which type were you told? (And if it helps, said cousin is now 36 years old and thriving. She had an insulin pump implanted years ago.)

Hope everything is OK. typeonenation.org is a great site, run by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, where you can talk to other parents who are going through this/have been through it already. There's a lot of support on this site. And info on local T1 groups. We got a lot of reassurance and good info there when my husband was diagnosed (at 30 years old!).
