Babies: 0 - 3 Months

6 weeks crying peak?

My baby will not stop crying during the day she is fed and sleeps for a few minutes and then starts crying. Its like everything I do isn't working. She is normally on schedule, eats every 4 hours and goes back to sleep but now she is up all day and sleeps well at night but during the day is awful. HELP!

Re: 6 weeks crying peak?

  • 6 weeks is a growth spurt. My son JUST got over it and he is 7 weeks 5 days. His started at 5 1/2 weeks though.

My pedi also told me 6 weeks is a peak for colic/reflux symptoms as well. It should start to get better from here on out.

  • Yea she is 5.5 as well. Okay I hope it gets better. It seems the whole time she is awake she is crying. But night time seems to be fine. So I wasn't sure if maybe she was teething early cause everything else has been fine. It started around mid last week.

It does get better. It's just a rough couple of weeks.

Are you feeding her more?  At this age my little one was feeding every hour she was in a growth spurt and needed more food to accommodate it.  Also keep in mind schedules don't last long for babies so what has been working may need a change, more food or more sleep etc.

  • Our LO is 5.5 weeks and although he isn't crying any more he is awake more and does enjoy when we do things with him.   We have always sat and just talked to him or read him a book but now he is actually engaging more.

My routine is always changing for his needs. We have a swing, pack n play, bassinet, and crib.   I am always putting him different places to sleep.  I know this is a no-no but during the day ONLY, I will put him on his tummy in the bassinet for his naps (the bassinet is in the living room where we are the majority of the time).

He also has a play mat that he plays under once a day. We also put on his sun hat and go outside and look around, we live on a farm so we have a lot to look at here.

I forgot to add when he is going through a growth spurt he eats like a horse.   He will go through 3 ounces every hour day and night.  (pumped breast milk).
