heat!

Poor LO has had a small rash on her face that the doc said was likely heat related. I do notice it when she gets warm now that it has been more summerlike. DH was holding her earlierand we noticed her face was getting reddish! Anyone else experiencing this? I feel like its so hard to know if they are warm, cold or perfect! I just hope the rash isn't painful for her! If she is anything like her daddyshe will have sensitive skin..ugh.

Re: heat!

  • Our pedi says this is what our LO has, too.  Basically his skin seems a little bumpy rather than smooth.  I thought it was an allergic reaction to lotions or bath soap but apparently not.  I'm always worried that he'll be too cold so I guess I need to quit bundling him up!  LOL!

  • Just remember, if you are cold, they are cold. If you are hot, they are hot. Babies are naturally going to have colder hands and feet because it is small and thin, there aren't much blood vessels/fat in the hands and feet in the first place. You can cover their hands and feet with socks and mittens, but if it is hot outside or inside.. put them in light/no clothes.

  • Ella gets the rash to when its warm especially when DH kisses her with his facial hair touch in her
  • Temp control is tricky for us. We live in South Florida so it's almost always hot. DH and I are often experiencing different levels of cold/warmth, like he'll be hot when I feel fine. So it's difficult for us to determine how LO feels based on ourselves. I've been determining how she feels by looking at her and touching her. Her face will get reddish, her hair gets wet with perspiration, and her skin will feel hot if she's hot. If she's cold, I would think her face/arms/legs would feel cold.
