My family decides to throw a Memorial Day BBQ...not at all considering its my birthday in4 days but just one so they can "see the baby"...and here I am for a damn hour, alone in a room so she can get a good nap in because its over stimulating. And my husband complains the whole time we are driving, but there he is enjoying himself by the pool while I don't spend time with my family, because the kid is overwhelmed plus growth spurt.

So beyond irritated right now. No one has offered to hold or do anything with her, so why the big freeaking deal. We aren't going anywhere over 20 minutes anymore until she naps better on her own because this is stupid

Sorry, girl!  Tknow it's hard; I pretty much refused to leave our house for the first eight weeks for that exact reason.  When she wakes up, pass her off to someone and go enjoy yourself for a little bit!

My husband's family reunion was this weekend... I had to see people at 10-15 minute intervals because it was overstimulating, even when they held him... he actually preferred to be put down. I saw everyone twice a day Saturday and Sunday.. I didn't want to stress my little one out that much.

Ugh, yeah. People don't realize how overstimulating big gatherings are for little babies. We stayed with my in-laws this weekend and there was a big family gathering at DH's aunts house (next door to ILs). Luckily because we were staying right next door, we could easily leave after an hour to put little guy to bed when he started getting tired and fussy. But the whole weekend, my in-laws totally wanted to play with little guy ALL THE TIME, resulting in an overstimulated baby often. I swooped in a lot saying "he needs to eat" or "time for a nap", at which point I took him into our room to calm him down and feed or nap him. I am exhausted after this weekend! I feel your pain. Hopefully you are home relaxing now.

I hear ya! We drove two hours to my brother in laws a couple of weeks ago so they could finally see the baby. Yup they looked for about 5 mins and then guess who got to sit in the corner alone most of the day with a grumpy, overtired baby... Yup it was me.
