C-sections

Bikini C section

I had a bikini c section done April 27th. A month later, I am noticing that my lower abdomen is still larger than it was before. My jeans still don't fit me. I was curvy before the pregnancy, but everything else is back to normal except that!! Why?! Is this normal? Is it still swollen or still healing? What can I do to make it go away?

Re: Bikini C section

  • I'm still the same way. Part of it is swelling I think and another part is the belly having been stretched over a baby and not working out. It took a while with my first for my old clothes to fit well. This time I'm at my pp weight but not the same shape!

Mine is still numb in areas too.  I don't think it will ever be the same.  I haven't been the best at dieting either.  Ugh.
  • I'm slim, but I didn't get back into my official pre-pregnancy pants and size until 3 month after my c/s.  I was probably still rocking my comfy maternity pants 1 month after!

  • So, there's hope you're saying! Lol!! I read that it could take up to 6 months!!
  • Theres hope. I'm a runner and it took me 8 mos to get back into my skinny clothes, I took it nice And easy though. My belly never looked quite the same, but I sure looked good in clothes.:-)

  • I cried about not fitting in my normal jeans. Shirts fit just fine!! I am certain that it will happen.
  • It took a few months before I stopped looking pregnant and I still can't fit into my prepregnancy pants, even though I weigh less than I did when I got pregnant.

  • You  are only a month post op!! Give it time! You had major surgery and that takes time to heal. I got derailed at 5months after my csection due to a hip replacement. S I cant give a great time estimate. But I am in back to normal (with a few extra poochie areas) but pre preg weight and pants size. I am a small sized gal so it was hard for me until I list it all and them some.

  • Even with a vaginal birth it usually takes a few weeks to months for all the swelling to go down, never mind baby plus surgery! Give yourself a break, things will calm down, but the reality is that having a baby stretch out your tummy can permanently change how it looks. Also the scar from a Csec often leaves a little pouch directly above the incision site that will remain. Only way to fix that is a cosmetic procedure...but not everyone has an issue with this.
