I don't turn up the pressure very high. It takes longer but I'd rather it take longer than get poop everywhere!

For my pockets I take out the inserts so they don't soak up the extra water. Then I hold the 4 corners, folding the poop side out and lower it as low as I can without dipping it into the toilet. Then I aim the sprayer down into the toilet and spray along the edges of the poop as if I was trying to scrape it off with the water; not soak the poop. It lifts the poo better this way I find. It took some practice to find a good technique for me, but now I barely get any water on my hands or the seat.
Prefolds are essentially the same technique, but I hold the dry corners and spray the same way then lay it back in the cover so it doesn't drip on the way back to the wet bag.
That makes sense. Pockets would probably be easier. I have Flips, so I usually have a microfiber insert and the cover to spray. I think your method of folding and holding 4 corners is better than my holding one end and dangling.

I also use the fold in half, poop side out method.

Me too.
My husband doesn't. He gets crap all over the place, starting to think he does this on purpose....
But I also bought one of these for diapers that are either really messy or if I'm in a hurry and just want to use full pressure and not worry about spray: Spray Pal (it should be clicky).
It's pretty much just a glorified clip board, but I think it works well, and it's the only way MH doesn't get poop everywhere (in the 2 times he's actually sprayed a diaper, that is).
