Trouble TTC

How to define "Day 3" of cycle

Unfortunately, I waited until a holiday weekend to have this question, so there is no one at my doctor's office to answer the phone or email.

I am supposed to take an FSH test on day 3 of my cycle.  I started spotting yesterday, but didn't actually start my period until later in the evening, around 7. I'm getting conflicting advice online about whether yesterday was day 1, or today is.  Meaning I'm not sure if I should go in tomorrow or wait until Tuesday to have blood drawn.

Worst case scenario, I can always go in tomorrow, then call first thing on Tuesday morning and go in for another blood draw, but that doesn't really seem like an ideal solution.

Re: How to define "Day 3" of cycle

  • According to my RE, CD1 is the first day of full flow. If AF starts after 5pm you count CD1 as the next day. So today should be CD1 for you.

i have been told the same thing. Day 1 is the first day of flow requiring a pad or tampon. I had the same thing this month....I started spotting during the day and flow kind of started in the middle of the night. RE said to count the next day CD 1 since it was the first real flow day.

    Good luck.

All PP are right that if it started after the evening started, then count the next day as cd1.  BUT also baseline testing, including FSH, can be taken on cd2, cd3, or cd4.  So even if Monday was cd3, having the test done Tuesday is still OK.
