Food Allergy

Finger food? MSPI

I'm just curious what others are giving their LO's to eat who have a milk and or soy allergy. DS is 11 months old and he will eat finger food some of the time...but it's really hit or miss. He still mainly eats jarred pureed stage 2 baby food. I know solids before a year are just for fun but...he will be a year next month! Anything that is squishy he will not eat like pears and peaches even though he loves the pured form. One night he'll go to town eating chicken, peas, and potato...the next night we could give him the exact same thing and he will toss it on the floor.

I guess I am just running out of ideas of finger foods to even give him. We are supposed to start a milk challenge in a week or two and I'm hoping he handles that well so we can have more options of foods for him. What do your LO's eat throughout the day?

  • I first breastfeed and after one hour or so I offer solids, she's not taking a lot but still, breastmilk is the primary source when it comes for feeding. You should just make sure she gets enough breastmilk and find the right solids to offer.

I'm not good at knowing what to give to my baby but i always find different fruits and vegetables, here: https://goodmomming.com/  there're specific for age.
  • cheerios, pieces of avacado, fruit, chickpeas, black beans, cut up pieces of safe toast, pasta pieces, veggies

  • DD is on Neocate, and food was a massive failure until a month or so ago.  She hates purees, so she eats brown rice, sweet potato, avocado, banana, applesauce.  She has also tried carrots and squash, which did not agree with her.  The next things I am going to try are chicken, pears, quinoa, oats, and then some green stuff.  I cook the veggies soft and give her french-fry sized pieces so she can grab them easily.

I would keep offering finger foods in a variety of textures and let your LO explore them.  They will devour something one day and completely reject it the next.  That is totally normal!  DS once stopped eating applesauce for a year, and now he loves it again.
