We finally decided on the name Mila Tristen. It's pronounced Mee-lah with the emphasis on the Mee part. I've looked into the name and spelling and from what I see, it's spelled M i l a. I'm just wondering if we'll have to correct pronunciation when the name is read. What are your thoughts on spelling? It's a fairly new name and we love it, but people aren't familiar with it. Would you spell it differently?

Pretty name!
My only experience with this name is from actresses Mila Jovovich and Mila Kunis and this board... The actresses say it Mee-lah and that seems to be the consensus and desired pronunciation here too. I think you'll run into a little mispronunciation here and there, but nothing too bad. There's really no other way to spell it without being just plain wrong or looking odd. I'd stick with the correct spelling and just deal with the occasional mispronunciation.
Tristen is a boy name.
This!
Plus it's one of the top trending names of 2012/2013 so you won't have any problems by the time she is older, she will probably be one of a few in her school.
This is a good point!
Thanks everyone for the feedback, it's very helpful. I do know that Tristen/Tristin/ Tristan is a masculine name (Joy2611 & Washington). I like masculine girl names like Charlie, Casey, Peyton, Jessie, Cameron & Reese. (I love Charlie). I looked at a baby name poll on Tristan/ Tristen for boy vs. girl name and the result was 58% boy & 42% girl. I don't want it as a first name, but a mn is perfect since we like it. I do think I'll spell it Tristan, that looks slightly more feminine IMO.
