At Baby's well-check visit (10 days ago), the doctor told me we had thrush. We've been treatin git since but haven't been able to get rid of it yet. I have a certain discomfort when Baby latches, but it goes away within seconds and isn't anything more than an annoyance.
Then today, when I picked up DD2, I noticed a shooting pain in my left breast. The pain was very local, nowhere near the nipple, and is rather deep inside. Like I feel it if I poke at it or press hard enough against it, but that's it.
I'm wondering if that could be from the thrush getting worse instead of better. Or maybe it's mastitis. FWIW, my breasts don't feel warm and I haven't noticed any lumps.
Anyone want to diagnose me?
Re: Thrush? Mastitis? What?
I haven't had either thrush or mastitis, but sounds like the stabbing pain is more along the lines of mastitis. I'm diagnosing a call to your Dr. or a walk-in clinic/ER if your Dr. isn't available on Sundays.
The bit of pain when he latches doesn't sound too bad, it's' the shooting pain that I'd be concerned about.
Ditto! I had thrush with Mich but it wasn't too bad and cleared up within a week of treatment.
I had mastitis 4 times. It sucks. Hope you feel better soon.
We struggled with it for a long time. Yes. I did get shooting pains through my breast randomly. You'll also get the discomfort when he latches. But, even before I knew I had it I had the shooting pains. My discription of what I felt was a lightning bolt going from my chest muscle to my nipple.
Thanks for the feedback ladies.
It's so weird. I woke up this morning and *poof* the pain was gone. So right now I'm gonna go and say clogged duct, even though I couldn't feel a lump (which I could when I had clogged ducts in the past).
Also, just in case anyone else wants to weigh in, the pain was similar to poking at a bruise, only much more painful (but it was the same type of pain, if that makes sense, and also pretty local. It didn't really spread to the surrounding area at all)
