Hi everyone. I'm new to this board. I was hospitalized last night for hyperemesis gravidarum at 7.5 weeks along. When they did a scan the resident noticed and the attending doctor confirmed that it looks like I'm having twins!
Fraternal twins do not run in my family, I'm not over 30 (though getting close) and we did not employ fertility drugs with this pregnancy so this is out of the blue!
Seeing the OB on Thursday so hopefully he can confirm the hospital findings. In the meantime I'm bursting with a mixture of excitement and shock and apprehension.
This was a really long post just to introduce myself.
Re: Surprised to be here!
Welcome! You'll find lots of useful information on this board. :-)
Your story sounds a lot like mine. No fraternal twins in my family (we found out they are fraternal boys!), not over 30 (but will turn 30 in August..BOOO!!! Haha) and no fertility drugs. In fact, I was on birth control. So when I took the home pregnancy test and saw that it was positive, I about had a heart attack. When I went in for an ultrasound (at about 7 weeks), there were actually 3 sacs but only 2 babies had beating hearts.
It was certainly the surprise of a lifetime and it took awhile to sink in but we really are getting used to the idea of having two more boys running around (this is my 3rd pregnancy, I had a daughter and son here as well) at this point. It's about time considering I'm 21+w along. :-)
Congrats!!!
