Swim Diaper

Okay, I know everyone asks about these, so sorry if this is redundant.  Can I just use a PUL cover as a swim diaper?  I was thinking of putting a fleece liner in it so the sticky part of the PUL doesn't irritate DS.  They're just basically to catch poops right? Like, I'm just supposed to accept that there will probably be urine in the swim water?  Do I have this right?

Yeah. If you bring him in a chlorine pool the PUL will, from what I've seen people say, start to delaminate, so don't use your favorite dipe. But yup, pee in the water. Even with sposies. Blech.

Yup.
Don't change into the swim diaper until you're ready to get in the water. Your LO will pee straight through it.

Yes, they are just meant to catch poo.

if you're worried about PUL on your LO, you might want to buy an actual swim diaper.

I love my applecheeks swim diapers.  They are not a  PUL cover and have a lining.

Thanks! His birthday is actually on Tuesday.  DH and I are taking him to the aquarium.  I'm excited!

You have it right. Some covers have the polyester layer (like bummis) or you could use an unstuffed pocket. You could try with a fleece liner, but it might move around more without an insert below. Like pp said, if you are going to a chlorinated pool it's better to buy a swim diaper (unless you have a diaper you don't like).
