Baby Food Processing System Recommendations

Anyone have recommendations on a good baby food processing system (preferably one that steams and blends)?  I received the FAO Schwarz Baby Chef as a shower gift.  The steamer side worked like a charm, but out of the box the blender side doesn't work!  Any thoughts?

  • I think those are giant money dumps. Just use a steamer basket and either a food processor or immersion blender. Save yourself the money.

  • I think it depends how much you're going to use it and what you already have. My friend has a baby brezza and loves it. She also doesnt cook a lot, so all in one was a big selling point. I already own an immersion blender, a mini food processor and a professional food processor. If I was going to do pur?es I'd use what I had. The baby versions don't take abuse like the higher end full sized ones, and they cost about the same.

This! I just made a batch of apples and pears using my steamer basket and the blender. It's super easy and didn't cost me a penny!

  • I use my rice steamer or steamer basket and my Ninja blender.

I got the rice steamer as a wedding gift and I steam our rice and/or veggies for dinner. And I got my Ninja blender when I was pregnant because I was doing smoothie drinks for breakfasts or snacks and I knew from day one when I found out I was pregnant that I would be making LO food.

I've got the baby breza but I don't have a regular steamer so this will be good!

  • I have the Beaba that my bff recommended. She used it with her 3 kids. I haven't used it yet but I'm excited to! It steams and blends.

  • I was gifted a used Beaba with DS1 and it is nice to never have to remove/drain food or dirty more than 1 dish.  However, any random number of kitchen items you already own would work fine.  Really, you could microwave and smush with a fork if you are in a big hurry.

  • Those are all a waste of money. I use my regular veggie steamer and my food processor. Nothing more is needed at all.

  • I have the baby brezza and love it, but I also don't have a regular steamer. I probably could use my regular food processor, bbut its usually stuffed away in a cabiney because its big and bulky. The brezza is nice to have because its small, compact, and it can stay right on my counter, which I have very limited counterspace to begin with! I also love that I can steam and puree all in one. I also defrost DS' s purees in it too.

  • Thanks for the feedback, everyone!  I think I'll probably try the baby brezza.  I know a lot of people feel like they're a waste, but the equipment I have in my kitchen now is just too bulky to continually pull out and put up (and I'm weird about having stuff out on my countertops.) I also like the concept of doing it all in one container versus dirtying various pots/pans and accessories.  I'll report back here if it does turn out to be a total flop :-)

    This.

They jack the price up because it says "baby" on it.

I was gifted the Baby Bullet before LO was born. I wanted to try it out, so I used ONE avocado, which was only half of what it considered to be full. It was the biggest piece of shiit I have ever used. I returned it and I will be using my steamer and Cuisinart food processor for baby food.
